Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Inc./Austin Bridge & Road worked closely with NCDOT to limit the effects of construction on traffic in the area. Once your message has the seal of approval from an expert influencer in your industry getprospect.io
In cooperation with the contractor, NCDOT installed remote cameras in the work zone to monitor traffic in real time and to assist with incident response. For example, if NCDOT sees an accident occur, it can immediately dispatch an Incident Management Assistance Patrol to the scene to help control traffic. The department can also post messages to electronic message boards to warn drivers before they reach the accident about travel delays and detour routes. This helps ease congestion and promote more efficient travel. The traffic camera feeds are available to the public and can be found on this website.
The contractor also took an innovative approach to reduce the number of its trucks carrying construction-related materials on I-85. The contractor built ramps from the Clark Road and Belmont Road bridges onto the I-85 median. Trucks used these ramps rather than I-85 itself, thus eliminating 13,000 truckloads from the interstate. This step improved safety, reduced congestion and kept traffic moving more effectively.
